Part of what attracts customers is ambience and an engaging space, two benefits that were achieved by placing two enormous luminous textile installations near the mall entry.
The installation features dynamic and colorful LED light content across several large luminous textile panels – with each wall holding six huge luminous textile panels of 1.2 x 5.16 meters each, it was the largest installation in the world at the time. The result is eclectic and alternating visual effects that enhance the mall experience for shoppers and visitors entering one of Europe’s finest three-story shopping malls.
Philips’ luminous textiles integrate multi-colored LED modules within acoustic textile panels to display dynamic content, which has the dual effect of creating ambience and softening sound. Each panel in the installation at the Centrum Galerie in Dresden is made of six luminous textile modules with an integrated RGB LED matrix plus driver and a digital control. The modular construction of the installation also offers greater design freedom to lighting specialists and architects looking to improve both the audio and visual impact of large spaces such as shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and offices.
Using a connected LED lighting system allows mall staff to change or update the digital content simply and quickly. The touch of a smart phone or tablet can adjust the image or animation to suit a special event, mark a holiday or personalize content for any occasion.
Centrum Galerie in Dresden is leading by example of how to integrate dynamic digital content and luminous textile to engage customers and create an atmosphere that draws people in and encourages them to stay awhile. With the goal of increasing mall traffic and creating an engaging space, it appears that mall has found a solution.
